I was set the brief of
creating a television advert. I was given a list of companies in which I had to
choose one to create an advert for. After doing some research on the companies
I decided that I wanted to do Levi’s Jeans. I believed that I would be able to
create a strong advert with Levi’s in mind.
I believe that after
shooting and editing my advert I have created a successful and strong advert. I
believe that my advert meets the brief. It hits the pointers that Levi’s
wanted. I could have maybe done it a little stronger taking a little more consideration
and concentration on the jeans themselves. When shooting it I should have got
more close up shot of the jeans rather than more full body shots. Although I
think I have hit the targets on the brief I think they could have been done a
lot stronger.
There are both strengths
and weaknesses of my advert like everything. I believe the strengths are that I
created a strong advert. I have hit the brief taking Levi’s into consideration
and created that modern advert that they wanted. It is a fast paced advert with
catchy music on top. I think this is a strength as it will keep the audience
attached to the advert. If it was a slow advert with a slow and being song on
top the audience may not want to watch it as it will be dull and boring to
watch. By creating this fast paced advert it will help keep them watching and
remember whom Levi’s are and what they do. I think that I have kept Levi’s in
mind and focused on the jeans. I have created an advert that is full of energy.
I have chosen suitable music and made the advert suited to the music itself. It
suits the Levi’s traditional adverts. I also think that the location I shot in
gives the advert a different feel to something plain and boring. It ads a little
more character and interest to the advert. As well as this I think that the
type of sport (downhill mountain biking) that I have used in the advert also
ads character and interest as it is a lot different to normal adverts. A lot of
adverts are very glamorous and flattering. The advert I have created shows
adventure, sport and versatility of the brand.
As well as these strengths
I believe there are weaknesses to this advert. I have mentioned that I believe
I focused on the jeans and took Levi’s into consideration while creating the
advert. Although I think this I do believe that I could have focused on the
jeans more and got a lot more close up shots of them rather than a lot of full
length shots. I think this would have made my advert a lot stronger than it is.
I also think I could have edited it a little more so I could get it to cut to
the beat a lot more than it already is. I think I could have also made certain
shots within the advert a little shorter and put more footage in. this would
have broken up the advert a little more interesting and appealing. I think that
I need to show more of the product within my advert to make it a little more
clear as to what company it is and what they do.
Throughout this product I
believe that I managed my time well. I created a production schedule that I
tried to stick to. Although I was a little slower doing certain things I was
able to complete everything on time and get everything done that needed to be
done. I made the most of how much time I had to produce this advert. I took my
time to do certain things to make sure that they where done to my best ability.
I do believe that I could have created a stronger storyboard for me to be able
to get a clearer understanding of exactly what I wanted when it came to
shooting. When shooting I tried to get as many different angles of everything as
I could to ensure I had enough footage to create the best look for m advert. I
managed my time well and got everything done within the time that I wanted them
done by. There wasn’t a massive amount of work to do but there was enough to
keep me busy and constantly working on it. I did change my idea a couple of
times so had change a few pieces of my work which took a little more time than
planned but I was still able to complete it.
After completing my advert
I asked my peers for feedback on what they though of my advert. I had both
positive and slightly negative comments on my work. The negative comments where
things that I could improve on. After hearing the feedback I changed some
things within my advert to make it stronger. The positive feedback I had was
that the music as well sited, it was a strong advert that showed who the advert
was for and that it is a traditional Levi’s advert. People also said that it
was well cut to the music and it was fast paced which is ideal as it keeps the
attention of the audience. They also said that it was a good idea for an advert
as it is different to adverts you see on TV. It gives a different perspective
on it. The negative feedback I had as that I needed to fade the music at the
end of the advert so it doesn’t just stop dead. A couple of people also said
that I could maybe change a couple of pieces of footage within the advert so
that I emphasis more on the product and company. Although they said it was a
fast paced advert they said it could have been a little faster and cut to the
beat of the song a little more. One person said that I needed to change the
length of how long the advert is shown at the end as it was too short.
After having my feedback I
took them into consideration and changed a couple of things within my advert. I
put a fade on the end of the song so that it doesn’t stop dead. I also changed
the length on how long the logo was shown at the end of the advert. I changed a
couple of pieces of footage in there to focus a little emore on the jeans to
emphasis the product and brand more.
Overall I think I have
created a strong advert that shows what the company and the product is. It also
meets the requirements that they wanted.
